From Iphone To Samsung Kicked Out, This Is The King Of Mobile Phones In Indonesia

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia The smartphone market in Indonesia is facing tough competition. As is known, the Indonesian smartphone market is currently dominated by well-known brands from China, such as Oppo, Vivo, Xiaomi, Realme, Nothing, OnePlus, HTC, Huawei, Asus, Meizu, and Honor.

In addition to China, Indonesia also has several well-known mobile phone brands from other countries such as South Korea to America. In Canalys’ latest report for the 2nd quarter of this year, the ‘Top 5’ best-selling smartphones in Indonesia are still held by veteran names.

The growth of all five is also positive. However, there was a shift in position. Oppo, which previously dominated the domestic smartphone market, had to be willing to be shifted to 2nd position.

Its growth was 8% year-on-year (yoy) with a market share of 19%. Meanwhile, the new smartphone king in Indonesia is occupied by Xiaomi. Xiaomi recorded significant growth of 48% yoy with a market share of 20%, quoted Wednesday (7/8/2024).

Vivo still secures 3rd place with 18% yoy growth and 18% market share. Meanwhile, Samsung rose to 4th place with 10% yoy growth and 18% market share.

Finally, Transsion, which oversees the Infinix, Tecno, and iTel brands, is in 5th place with 25% yoy growth and 15% market share.

In early 2024, Xiaomi appeared to be aggressively releasing a portfolio of mid-range and low-end smartphones. For example, the Redmi Note 13 series which carries 5 variants at once.

Each is Redmi Note 13 4G, Redmi Note 13 5G, Redmi Note 13 Pro 4G, Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G, and Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus 5G.
