Google Trials Limited Blue
Checkmark In Search Results
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Google is experimenting with placing a verification mark on business or company links that appear in search results. This blue checkmark is like the one that was once so important on the social media platform Twitter–before it changed to X.The mark appears with the aim of preventing users from being scammed by fake websites that may impersonate the official address of a particular business or company. The trial is being conducted on a small scale and it is not yet clear when the feature will be officially released by Google.Quoting the Tech in Asia website, this initiative comes amid increasing concerns about online fraud, especially related to the rise of fake sites. Google, part of Alphabet, helps users identify trustworthy business accounts, while avoiding fake websites that are deceptive. The Verge, meanwhile, believes that this experiment is still related to Google’s Brand Indicators for Message Identification (BIMI). This feature will later display a checkmark on the Gmail application and website next to senders who have adopted the verification platform. Some users have stated that they have seen the appearance of a blue verification mark that is paired with a business or company entity link in Google search results. For example, it appears next to official site links for Microsoft, Meta, Epic Games, Apple, Amazon, and HP.However, the check mark is no longer displayed after he logs into a different Google account. It is suspected that Google is conducting this experiment on a small scale.Google’s public spokesperson, Molly Shahen, confirmed that the verified check mark trial on business websites is part of Google’s efforts to help buyers (users) recognize trusted online businesses. “And right now we’re running a small experiment that shows a check mark next to certain businesses on Google,” Molly told The Verge.According to her, several factors are used to determine whether a company’s website will be verified. Among them are website verification, merchant center data, and manual reviews. It is worth waiting for how the security feature will be implemented, considering that Google has not officially released the search verification check mark feature or even stated when it will be announced globally.
