Kominfo Changes To Komdigi, Nezar Patria Opens Up About Its Meaning

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia –The Ministry of Communication and Informatics (Kemenkominfo) changed its name to the Ministry of Communication and Digital (Komdigi) in the era of President Prabowo Subianto.

Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Communication and Digital (Wamenkomdigi) Nezar Patria said there was a meaning behind the name change.

This name change indicates that there is a fairly large political will from the Red and White Cabinet to accelerate digital transformation. Thus, digital becomes an important theme in this ministry.

Nezar said that this focus on digitalization makes Komdigi more focused on several areas. One of them is related to cybersecurity.

“We will ensure that every ministry, institution, and region prepares what we call CSIRT,” said Nezar when met after the inauguration at the Komdigi Office, Monday (10/21/2024).

CISRT is the Computer Security Incident Response Team. This means that every ministry, institution, and region must have a special team that will respond when a security incident occurs.

“Well, the second is of course the development of digital infrastructure which is also our focus. So that, one, we can make the connectivity that has been built into meaningful connectivity that can be useful. At the same time, the message from the President, Mr. Prabowo, is how we can pursue the 8% economic growth,” Nezar explained.

Previously met, the Minister of Communication and Digital (Menkomdigi) who was also recently inaugurated, Meutya Hafid, revealed the reason President Prabowo Subianto changed the name of the Ministry of Communication and Informatics.

Meutya explained that the change in the name of the Ministry of Communication and Informatics to Komdigi was an effort to answer the challenges of the times.

“Then, I will repeat again that the name of the ministry changed to answer the challenges of the times so it has indeed become a focus according to the aspirations of President Prabowo, we will also emphasize digital so the name Communication and Informatics was changed to Communication and Digital,” he said.

As Menkomdigi, Meutya said she was ready to carry out duties according to public encouragement, including taking digital security seriously.

“I am following orders, orders are the wishes of many people that we try to accommodate, during my time in Commission I and previously. Among them, digital security is something that has been entrusted seriously,” he said.
