This Is Meutya Hafid’s First 100-Day
Target As Minister Of
Communication And Digital
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia –The Prabowo Subianto government has replaced the Ministry of Communication and Informatics (Kominfo) with the Ministry of Communication and Digital (Komdigi).
Meutya Hafid is trusted to lead the institution and was officially inaugurated on Monday (21/10) this week.
When met at the Komdigi Office, Meutya explained that the name change to Komdigi was to answer the challenges of the times, namely emphasizing digitalization.
In addition, Meutya has also set targets that will be carried out during the first 100 days as Minister of Communication and Digital.
First, she said that the eradication of online gambling activities and action against illegal online loans (pinjol) will be continued. This is also in accordance with the hopes of the community that were entrusted to her while serving on Commission I of the Indonesian House of Representatives.
Second, Meutya said she would create a child-friendly internet
“Because I am a woman, I added not only that. I also added how the internet is child-friendly, how our children can be protected, human trafficking or child trafficking, child pornography, child violence, that will also be our focus in digital restructuring,” said Meutya.
Meutya said this had also been conveyed to Prabowo. Then, Prabowo also entrusted digitalization to make various government affairs easier.
Third, Meutya will also continue to strive for equal distribution of the internet in remote, innermost, outermost (3T) areas. She plans to visit various points that are categorized as 3T directly to experience the quality of the internet connection there.
“Later, together with the deputy ministers in the near future, we will go to the 3T areas, especially in eastern Indonesia, to check the connection there with the hope that if we want the basis to be digital, the connection must be even, and also fast,” said Meutya.
“That’s what we might try to focus on together with a more even internet in the next 100 days,” she said.
The development of internet network access in the 3T region is one of the main programs of the Ministry of Communication and Information when it was still under the leadership of Budi Arie Setiadi. Based on the report of the Telecommunication and Information Accessibility Agency (Bakti), the development program has established 4G BTS at 5,618 sites as of October 4, 2024, consisting of 5,142 4G BTS that are already operating and 156 locations that are ready to go live.
