3 Richest People in the World Accumulate Wealth from Technology Business
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Not just one, but 8 out of 10 richest people in the world come from the technology sector.
The top three are Elon Musk in first place, Jeff Bezos in second place, and Mark Zuckerberg in third place.
They occupy the positions of the richest people based on the latest Bloomberg Billionaires Index as of September 27, 2024.
Musk and Bezos have long occupied the top 10 positions on the list of the world’s richest people. Bezos, who is now in second place, also once occupied the top position which is now held by Musk.
1. Elon Musk
According to the report, Musk’s wealth currently reaches US$ 268 billion or IDR 4,057 trillion.
Musk built his business octopus in the technology sector. His two most popular businesses are Tesla and SpaceX. Each is engaged in the electric car and space rocket sectors.
In 2022, Musk also acquired Twitter which was later changed to X. In the midst of the artificial intelligence (AI) trend, Musk also did not miss the train and founded xAI. It is predicted that xAI will be a competitor to OpenAI, the maker of the popular ChatGPT service.
Not only that, he also entered the world of health technology with Neuralink Corporation. Musk is one of the founders and owners of Neuralink Corporation, a neurotechnology company that develops implantable brain-machine interfaces.
Total investment in the company has exceeded $ 511 million in 2022.
Another business octopus is SolarCity, the second largest solar power system provider in the US in 2013.
Musk’s cousins, Lyndon and Peter Rive, founded SolarCity in 2006. The initial concept and financial capital for SolarCity were funded by Musk.

Jeff Bezos is the founder of the giant e-commerce company Amazon. Bezos released Amazon on July 16, 1995, after asking 300 friends to beta test his site. In the months leading up to the launch, several employees began developing software with Bezos in his garage.
Since 2005, Amazon has started offering a variety of products, including consumer electronics, apparel, and hardware. Amazon diversified further in 2006 by introducing Amazon Web Services (AWS), a cloud computing service that eventually became the largest service in the world today.
In July 2021, he stepped down as CEO and chose to become Amazon’s executive chairman.
In addition to Amazon, he is the owner of The Washington Post and the founder of the space exploration company Blue Origin.
3. Mark Zuckerberg
In third place on the list is the name of Facebook founder, Mark Zuckerberg. He is recorded as having assets of US$ 202 billion or Rp 3,060 trillion.
Most of Zuckerberg’s wealth comes from his ownership in Meta Platforms, the parent company of Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Threads.
Early last August, it was reported that Meta’s market capitalization value was heading for an increase of US$ 120 billion to US$ 1,204, after posting revenue above market expectations and forecasting revenue in the July-September period also above Wall Street estimates.
