Starlink Will Sell Fast in 2025, Brightening Dark Areas

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia Starlink has been expanding steadily this year, with its coverage reaching more than 20 new countries and territories.

The 2025 ‘Cloudflare Radar Year in Review’ report noted that SpaceX’s satellite-based internet service is the most popular choice for connectivity to underserved areas, as well as for users on airplanes and ships.

This year has seen a surge in Starlink internet traffic. Request volume has increased 2.3-fold over the past year.

“We tend to see rapid traffic growth when Starlink service is available in a country/region, and that trend continues into 2025,” Cloudflare wrote in its report, quoted Tuesday (12/16/2025).

This increase includes 20 new countries/territories gaining access to the service, including Armenia, Nigeria, Sri Lanka, and Sint Maarten.

Internet traffic was also recorded in locations where service was unavailable. However, country-related IPv4 and/or IPv6 data were present in Starlink’s published geofeed.

Cloudflare explained that the traffic recorded likely originated from roaming users, as the service is part of Starlink’s capabilities.

Furthermore, several regions that had access to Starlink before 2025 also saw an increase. Benin saw 51 accesses, Timor Leste 19, and Botswana 16.

Specifically for Botswana, Cloudflare also included an explanation of global internet traffic trends. For your information, traffic growth is projected to reach 19% by 2025.

The country experienced its highest peak traffic growth of 298% on November 8, 2025. The trend is expected to grow at 295%.

According to Cloudflare, Botswana and Sudan are the regions with more than doubled traffic this year.
