X CEO to Sudden Resignation

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia –X CEO Linda Yaccarino has abruptly resigned. She had only been leading Elon Musk’s social media giant for a short time, starting in 2023.

Yaccarino’s resignation came just months after xAI acquired X for US$33 billion in March 2025. xAI is an artificial intelligence (AI) startup also owned by Musk.

The 61-year-old Yaccarino announced her resignation via a post on X. She emphasized that the resignation was entirely her own decision.

This refutes speculation that Yaccarino was fired by Musk. Musk has been known to abruptly fire top executives at his companies.

“I have decided to step down as CEO of X,” Yaccarino wrote in her announcement, as quoted by Reuters, Thursday (July 10, 2025).

Yaccarino’s departure further shakes up Musk’s business empire. Previously, Musk had been under pressure due to Tesla’s declining performance. Furthermore, Musk was also involved in a public feud with US President Donald Trump over the tax cut and budget increase bill.
