Remember Google’s Message:
Delete These Photos and Files on
Your Android Phone Immediately!
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia –All phone users have the right to decide which files and photos to keep. However, Google has warned that there are several types of files and photos that should be deleted from Android phones.
This is because every Android phone has limited storage capacity. If you store too many files and photos, the storage can fill up. As a result, your phone’s performance can slow down and even cause errors.
There are at least five types of files and photos that Google recommends deleting on your Android phone. Here’s a summary, as reported by The Sun, Tuesday (August 5, 2025):
Large Photos and Videos
Some photos and videos are large and take up storage space. You can check this in ‘Settings,’ ‘Device Care,’ ‘Storage,’ ‘Large Files.’
There will usually be a list of various large photos and videos. You can select the photos and videos you no longer use and delete them.
Additionally, you can check ‘Duplicate Files’ to see if there are any duplicate photos and videos. You can delete any of them to save memory space.
In addition to photos stored in your phone’s gallery, you can delete photos in Google Photos. Here are the steps:
Open the Google Photos app.
Then, sign in to your Google Account.
Next, tap and hold the photo or video you want to delete.
At the top of the screen, tap the Delete button.
Media
You also need to delete media, including movies and music files. Go to the app that contains media content, such as Play Music or Play Movies & TV. Click the settings menu and go to manage downloads. Next, tap the item you want to download and press the delete button.
Apps
You likely have many apps on your phone. However, not all of them are used frequently; some may even be left unused for a long time without ever being reopened. Delete unused apps and you can download them again in the future if needed.
Google also recommends clearing the app’s cache and data. Clearing the cache deletes temporary data, while clearing the data storage permanently deletes the data stored in the app.
Auto-Archive
If you can’t delete an app, you can auto-archive it. Open the Play Store and go to the Settings menu. Next, select the general option and toggle auto-archive on or off.
Downloaded Files
You may also forget about files you’ve downloaded but no longer use. Delete unused downloaded files to free up storage space on your phone.
So, those are 5 types of photos and files you should delete from your Android phone. We hope this information helps!
