Elon Musk Shares How to Delete Instagram, Netizens React Unexpected

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia Elon Musk is trying to persuade people to delete Instagram. However, the invitation has backfired on the owner of the social media platform.

Recently, Musk responded to a post on Instagram asking how to delete Instagram. He wrote the short sentence, “Here’s how,” as quoted by Mashable, Tuesday (August 5, 2025).

Unexpectedly, the invitation didn’t inspire netizens; instead, it backfired. Some comments criticized X, which they deemed unhygienic social media.

Some of them considered the X app to be just as bad as Instagram. One user called X a political platform, compared to Instagram, which offers better content.

Some also noted that the comments on Instagram Reels are much better than those seen on X. Furthermore, one user highlighted the strained relationship between Musk and Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta, Instagram’s parent company.

“Elon is a trolling machine when it comes to Zuckerberg,” the user wrote.

The relationship between the two tech giants has never been good. Musk has launched direct attacks on Zuckerberg several times.

One of them even proposed arresting Zuckerberg to replace Pavel Durov, the founder of Telegram, who was arrested by French authorities some time ago. He also accused Zuckerberg of censoring free speech, exploiting children, and providing backdoor access for the government.

In 2023, Musk also compared Instagram to the adult website OnlyFans. Furthermore, Meta’s Threads platform has been the subject of Musk’s criticism in the past.
