Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia –Indonesia’s digital economic potential encourages global giant companies to provide various digital skills training for Indonesian citizens. In addition to Apple which established the Apple Developer Academy for iPhone sales permits, Google has also provided training for years through the Google Developer Program.
The Google Developer Program is held by Google in collaboration with local institutions, both government and private.
CEO and Founder of Dicoding, Narenda Wicaksono, said that the initiative of technology companies in developing digital talent needs to be appreciated. Because Indonesia needs 600 thousand digital talents per year according to data from the World Bank.
In the vision of Indonesia Emas, said Narenda, the target is for Indonesia to become the country with the 5th largest income in the world by 2045.
Several ministries related to talent such as the Ministry of Education and Science and Technology, the Ministry of Communication and Digital, and the Ministry of Creative Economy also see this talent training as a necessity for Indonesia to achieve this vision.
“From our perspective as a company in the digital HR sector – both private and government initiatives, or cooperation between them – of course it is very influential,” Narenda told CNBC Indonesia, Friday (17/1/2025).
For example, the Bangkit program which is a collaboration between Google and Kemdikti Saintek. According to Narenda, this program has trained 25 thousand people in 5 years and the impact is also extraordinary.
