Apple’s Business Plummets, iPhone Factory Suddenly Makes This Claim

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The largest iPhone factory, Foxconn Taiwan, estimates an increase in revenue in the second quarter (Q2) 2024. The assembly factory even reported record sales for April.

Foxconn said Q2 this year was the off-peak season, as key products entered a transition period between old and new products.

“The operating outlook for Q2 is expected to show quarter-on-quarter and year-on-year growth,” said Foxconn, quoted by Reuters, Monday (6/5/2024)

The statement did not elaborate and the company did not provide exact figures.

The company, officially called Hon Hai Precision Industry Co Ltd, said revenue in April reached T$510.9 billion (Rp. 253 billion), which was the highest figure in history for the same period and showed a 19% increase compared to last year.

“Smart consumer electronics product revenues, including smartphones, in April showed significant year-on-year growth,” they said.

“Strong artificial intelligence (AI) server demand also resulted in “robust growth” in April of the current year for its cloud and networking products segment,” the company added.

The monthly sales data comes ahead of Foxconn’s Q1 earnings report on May 14.

Foxconn had previously reported that in the first quarter, revenue fell 9.6% compared to a year ago to T$1.322 trillion, underperforming LSEG SmartEstimate of T$1.401 trillion. Thus giving greater weight to estimates from analysts that are more consistently accurate.

The first quarter is usually quieter than the previous quarter, namely during the holiday season when Taiwanese technology companies compete to supply smartphones, tablets and other electronic devices to large vendors such as Apple for the year-end holiday period in Western markets.
