Crazy Cyber Attacks, 411 Thousand New Malware Appears Every Day in RI
Jakarta, CNN Indonesia –Ransomware attacks or hacking with extortion as a mode of extortion have been tracked as cyber crimes with quite a large number of victims in Indonesia.
In 2023, 411,000 new malware or system-breaking software will also be detected every day.
This is because ransomware attacks have more up-to-date technology so they are considered more efficient because they are less obvious.
This method enables automation simply by exploiting loopholes in the system and leaking pre-existing credentials (username and password pairs).
“In the midst of the current landscape of rapid technological development, Indonesia has grown into one of the countries experiencing rapid transformation,” said Dony Koesmandarin, Kaspersky Enterprise Group Manager in Central Jakarta, Tuesday (21/5).
“This opens up new opportunities for industry players and also cyber criminals,” he continued.
Referring to Kaspersky data, cyber crimes using ransomware against users were detected as many as 97,226 in Indonesia from January to December 2023.
This situation makes it more difficult for 52 percent of cyber security systems in Indonesia to handle attacks compared to three years ago.
Apart from ransomware attacks, Kaspersky also detected several other attacks that attacked businesses in Indonesia, including 97,465 financial phishing attacks, 16.4 million local incident attacks, and 11.7 million RDP (Remote Desktop Protocol) attacks.
This attack can be successful due to several things, namely, the threat landscape is developing and changing rapidly.
Additionally, there are gaps in cybersecurity monitoring tools and processes, and compounded by a lack of skills on the part of cybersecurity staff to keep up with security analysis and operations.
