Donald Trump Gouged, TikTok’s

New Strategy in America Revealed

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia -TikTok is reportedly developing a new version of the application for users in the United States before the administration of US President Donald Trump realizes the forced sale of the company.

The US government under the leadership of President Joe Biden, last year issued a regulation forcing ByteDance, the Chinese company that owns TikTok, to sell the application to an entity outside China. If TikTok is not sold, the short video application will be blocked in the US.

The sales deadline was supposed to fall in February 2025. However, Trump has repeatedly postponed the blocking deadline.

Reuters, citing The Information, reported that TikTok is currently developing a new version of the application in anticipation of the sale of their business in the US.

News of the new version of the application emerged shortly after Trump said he would start talks with China regarding the TikTok sale agreement. According to him, the TikTok sale agreement is in sight.

He also revealed that he had found a buyer for TikTok, the buyer was described as a group of very wealthy people who would be revealed by Trump in the next two weeks.

“I think we’ll start Monday or Tuesday … talking to China, maybe President Xi or one of his representatives, but we’ll have a deal pretty much,” Trump said Saturday (7/5/2025).

The Information said the new version of TikTok for the US market will launch on September 5, 2025. That launch date is less than two weeks from Trump’s new sales deadline of September 17.

Users will have to download the new app to continue using TikTok’s various services. The old app will only be available until March 2026.

Reuters said earlier this year there had actually been talks to shift TikTok’s business from a “branch” in the US to a new company majority owned by US investors. However, talks over TikTok fell apart after Trump announced high import tariffs on goods from China.
