Elon Musk Installs Starlink at Bali Health Center, Indonesian Netizens Confused

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Billionaire and businessman Elon Musk is known to have landed in Indonesia on Sunday (19/5/2024). His arrival on Sunday morning at 08:00 WITA was welcomed by the Indonesian Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs (Menko Marves) Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan.

Musk came to launch the Starlink service at the Sumerta Kelod Community Health Center, Denpasar, Bali. Arriving at 16:45 WITA, he was accompanied by Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin, Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono, and Minister of Communications and Information Budi Arie Setiadi.

Musk also immortalized his arrival to Bali in a number of uploads on his X account. In one of his posts he wrote that he was very honored to be able to launch Starlink in Indonesia.

“Very honored to launch Starlink in Indonesia! (Honored to launch @Starlink in Indonesia!)” wrote Musk.

In another upload, Musk also included a video of him being interviewed by media crew after the inauguration. He wrote that connectivity to communities in remote areas will increase access to education and economic opportunities.

A number of X users also welcomed Musk’s arrival and the launch of Starlink in Indonesia. Including Susi Pudjiastuti, former Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries.

In his account, he commented on the article about Musk’s arrival in Bali. Susi also said she was happy about Starlink’s presence in Indonesia.

“Welcome to Bali, Indonesia. Happy to see Starlink finally here @elonmusk (Welcome to Bali, Indonesia🙏💐Happy to see Starlink finally here @elonmusk)” wrote Susi.

Just like Susi, many netizens also welcomed Musk’s arrival in Indonesia. Thousands of X users invaded the comments column of Musk’s two posts in Indonesia.

Some users compare Starlink services with telecommunications services that previously existed in Indonesia. Other users also asked for the next location that would be able to access Starlink services.

Many X users commented on Musk’s post saying that the owner of SpaceX and Tesla had changed and saved the world. Several users also uploaded and commented on Musk’s appearance in green batik when visiting the Puskesmas in Bali.

However, there are also netizens who are confused about why Starlink is actually used in health centers located in big cities and not in remote areas.

Another humorous confusion was also expressed by netizens who compared Starlink to a traveling coffee seller in Jakarta.
