Who Do People Hate More?
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia –Two veteran figures in the technology industry, Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg, apparently have a negative image in the eyes of the public. The difference is, Musk’s image is more polarized than Zuckerberg’s.
The majority of Republican supporters have a positive assessment of Musk. Meanwhile, many Democratic supporters are not happy with the world’s richest person.
In contrast, both Republican and Democratic supporters on average dislike Zuckerberg, quoted from the official website of the Pew Research firm, quoted Friday (21/2/2025).
More than half of adults in the US (54%) said they dislike Musk. Among them, 36% have a strong negative opinion of Musk.
Meanwhile, 42% admitted to liking Musk. Among them, 11% are militants because they really like Musk.
This survey was conducted by Pew Research between January 27 and February 2, 2025.
Musk is the CEO of Tesla, SpaceX, and the owner of X, formerly known as Twitter. He currently also heads the US Government Efficiency Agency (DOGE) which is tasked with cutting government spending on the orders of President Donald Trump.
Turning to Zuckerberg, 67% of Americans say they dislike the Meta Platforms CEO. More specifically, 26% strongly dislike Zuckerberg.
Only 23% like Zuckerberg and 2% have a strong positive opinion of the former Harvard student.
Although Musk and Zuckerberg are famous figures, it turns out that there are a handful of people who don’t know them at all. As many as 3% of Americans say they have never heard of Musk, while 6% say they don’t know about Zuckerberg.
