Google Is Left Behind, Get Ready for a Total Change on the iPhone
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia –Google’s dominance as a browser and search engine appears to be increasingly being eclipsed. Apple is known to be working to develop new ways to search for information through a series of its own products, namely Safari, Siri, and Spotlight.
MacRumors reports that Apple is opening dozens of positions in the United States (US) and China.
One of them is a Machine Learning Engineer. This role is responsible for improving Siri’s ability to answer personal questions, as reported on Monday (August 4, 2025).
Those accepted for this job will develop large-scale language models. The models will answer users’ questions using their personal documents, while maintaining privacy.
Mark Gurman of Bloomberg said the team is developing a new search experience similar to ChatGPT. This product, dubbed an answer engine, is still in its early stages.
“Although still in its early stages, the team is building what’s called an answer engine, a system for crawling the web to answer common questions,” he explained.
If this information is true, it appears Apple is trying to create a new, standalone application for this function.
Gurman said the app is being built with a new back-end infrastructure. This is designed to support search capabilities for Siri, Spotlight, and Safari.
Previously, Gurman said Apple was developing a more conversational version of Siri. This product is more similar to ChatGPT with an extensive language model.
However, Apple users will still have to wait a long time to use the new product. According to Gurman, development has been delayed until iOS 27.
Meanwhile, Apple has announced a more personalized version of Siri. This will have a better understanding of the user’s personal context, on-screen awareness, and deeper per-app controls.
