Indonesian Citizen Data Stolen

for Pinjol Goes Viral, This is

the Owner of Rupiah Cepat

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia The online loan application (pinjol) Rupiah Cepat has been in the public spotlight for the past few days. This started with the outpouring of a netizen on X who claimed that his data was stolen by an irresponsible person.

It turned out that his data was used to register for pinjol. He found out about this when an unknown number suddenly contacted him via WhatsApp.

The caller claimed to be a Rupiah Cepat employee and asked the victim to check his account because the system was having an error. It turned out that there was already a large amount of money in the victim’s account.

He then intended to return the money because he felt that he had never applied for a loan. However, Rupiah Cepat rejected this and the victim was asked to continue returning it with an installment scheme.

The victim immediately reported this to the OJK and was asked to wait 1 10 days for the checking process and to get an answer from the reported party. Furthermore, Rupiah Cepat admitted that the reporter was a victim of fraud.

However, Rupiah Cepat still refused to accept the funds back in full without an installment process. This was unfortunate for the victim, because he had no intention of applying for a loan but instead had to get caught up in a loan installment scheme.

Rupiah Cepat Clarification

Through its official X account, Rupiah Cepat said that it had received and followed up on the complaint from the victim that went viral on social media. Currently, the case is still under internal investigation.

“Based on the initial investigation, there was no indication of a system violation or personal data leak from Rupiah Cepat. However, we are continuing to coordinate further with customers to ensure that the settlement is carried out fairly and proportionally for all parties,” it said in its official statement, quoted from X, Wednesday (5/21/2025).

Rupiah Cepat said that every step taken would prioritize the principles of consumer protection and legal compliance.

“We urge all Rupiah Cepat users to always be careful in maintaining the confidentiality of personal data and account credentials, and not to respond to parties claiming to be representatives of Rupiah Cepat on official communication channels,” he wrote.
