Blocking DeepSeek to Neighboring Indonesia, China Responds Strongly

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia –Chinese AI company, DeepSeek, is considered a threat to several other countries. They even banned the use of DeepSeek on government devices.

One of the countries that implemented this rule is Australia. The neighboring country of Indonesia banned DeepSeek’s AI from being used on all government devices due to concerns about posing a security risk.

“If found, remove all existing instances of DeepSeek products, applications and web services from all Australian Government systems and devices,” said the Australian government in a statement.

In response to this, China finally spoke up. They criticized the concept of national security that was too excessive amid the ban on DeepSeek’s artificial intelligence (AI) chatbots in Australia and South Korea.

Guo said that the Chinese government attaches great importance to protecting privacy and data security in accordance with the law.

The Chinese government has never and will never ask companies or individuals to collect or store data in a form that is contrary to the law.

“Beijing attaches great importance to data privacy and security and protects it in accordance with the law,” said Foreign Minister spokesman Guo Jiakun.

China has also always opposed the practice of over-expanding the concept of national security and politicizing economic, trade and technology issues, he added, adding that the government firmly safeguards the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese companies.
