Jockey Pinjol makes you horrified, OJK boss opens his voice
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The practice of loan jockeys is increasingly disturbing, where many people lend their identity and loan accounts to friends and family. Unfortunately, these good intentions often result in account holders having to assume debts they did not incur.
The Financial Services Authority (OJK) has issued a strong warning regarding the dangers of lending online loan accounts to other people. Many people are responsible for loans that the borrower fails to pay.
Agusman, Chief Executive for Supervision of Financing Institutions, Venture Capital Companies, Microfinance Institutions and Other Financial Services Institutions at the OJK, explained that people who lend their personal data must be aware of this risk.
“Because billing will be carried out by the Fintech P2P Lending Organizer and will be included in the blacklist of the Fintech P2P Lending industry database,” said Agusman, quoted from the written answer to the October 2023 RDKB Press Conference, Wednesday (1/11/2023).
In addition, Article 35 POJK 10 of 2022 requires Fintech P2P Lending Operators to verify the identity of service users and the authenticity of documents to minimize misuse of personal data.
Separately, General Chair of the Indonesian Sharia Fintech Association AFSI Ronald Yusuf Wijaya at the 2023 National Fintech Month (BFN) Press Conference, Wednesday, (1/11/2023) said that this phenomenon was quite worrying.
The reason is, people are still not aware of the importance of personal data privacy. The efforts that have been made by the industry so far are through the development of other technologies to avoid fraud, for example life detection
“In the past, selfies were just selfies, now selfies are asked to turn their heads, what’s the point? Make sure whether the photo on our KTP is of a real person or not, then they also see the same selfie on the KTP with the same data number as on the dukcapil or not or it could be my photo “I stuck it on the person’s ID card, if I checked it using technology it turned out to be the same even though the data registered was different,” said Ronald.
