Minister Of Communication And Information Blocks Online Gambling
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia –Celebrity Accounts: No Compromise!The government through the Ministry of Communication and Information (Kominfo) continues to take drastic and firm steps to eradicate online gambling activities in Indonesia.Most recently, Kominfo blocked the Katak Bhizer account @katakstvns.70 which spread online gambling promotional content via social media.
“We will beat up the spreaders of online gambling promotional material, no compromise,” said Minister of Communication and Information (Menkominfo) Budi Arie Setiadi, in a press statement received by CNBC Indonesia, Thursday (10/10/2024).
The blocking of the @katakstvns.70 account came from netizen complaints. The account was considered disturbing because it contained negative behavior among students.

One of the netizens who was furious was @irwandiferry. He then mentioned the @kemenkominfo and @bareskrim accounts to follow up on the accounts with up to 1.2 million followers.
“Kominfo will definitely block accounts with online gambling promotional content that is our common enemy,“ said Minister Budi Arie.Until now, the Ministry of Information and Informatics (Kominfo) has cut off access to 3,277,834 online gambling sites or 3.3 million online gambling content since the period of July 17, 2023. The Ministry of Communication and Informatics has also blocked 25,500 gambling page inserts on educational institution sites and 26,599 gambling page inserts on government institutions.
“The blocking was carried out in line with the cyber patrols that we continue to carry out,” explained the Minister of Communication and Informatics.
Not only that, continued Minister Budi Arie, the Ministry of Communication and Informatics eradicated the submission of 573 e-wallet accounts related to online gambling to Bank Indonesia and the blocking request for 7,499 bank accounts related to online gambling to the Financial Services Authority (OJK).
“Kominfo also submitted keywords related to online gambling to Google totaling 20,770 keywords and to meta totaling 5,031 keywords,“ said the Minister of Communication and Information.
