New History of Humans IDR 29 T Spacewalk in Space, Here’s His Comment

Jakarta, CNBC IndonesiaSpaceX’s ‘Polaris Dawn’ mission to carry four civilian astronauts into space was successfully carried out. The four crews managed to visit Earth’s orbit on a 5-day journey.

“SpaceX, there’s a lot to do, but from here it looks like a perfect world,” said Polaris Dwan commander Jared Isaacman, quoted from Space, Friday (13/9/2024).

Isaacman is the billionaire who funded the mission. According to a Forbes report, the founder and CEO of Allentown has a net worth of US$ 1.9 billion or equivalent to IDR 29.2 trillion.

The Polaris Dawn mission carries four astronauts. Each is Isaacman, pilot Scott Poteet, and mission specialists from SpaceX: Sarah Gillis and Anna Menon.

They visited orbit on Tuesday (10/9) aboard a Falcon 9 rocket that took off from the historic Launch Complex-39A at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center.

Fifteen hours later, the crew made their first spacewalk history when they reached an altitude of 870 miles (1,400.7 kilometers), higher than any other crewed mission since the Apollo program half a century ago.

Another NASA mission, Gemini 11, previously held the altitude record for a crewed spacecraft in Earth orbit at 853 miles (1,373 km).

But Polaris Dawn didn’t stop there. After reaching the record altitude, the mission’s Crew Dragon Resilience spacecraft was lowered to 458 miles (737 km) at its highest point.

Once there, Resilience was depressurized, and Isaacman and Sarah Gillis emerged into the void one by one, with Isaacman emerging at about 6:48 a.m. EDT and Gillis following at 7:04 a.m. EDT.

The spacewalk began at 6:12 a.m. EDT, nearly four hours later than previously announced, and was expected to last about two hours.

During the spacewalk, Isaacman and Gillis performed a series of spacesuit mobility checks as SpaceX captured a stunning live view of the two astronauts standing, most of their bodies outside the spacecraft.

Wow, can you smell it? The smell of space,” Isaacman said after zipping up his capsule.

“Well done to everyone at SpaceX who made this happen,” he said.

The spacewalk, also called extravehicular activity, was made possible by several hardware developments specifically designed for Polaris Dawn.

Polaris Dawn featured a modified Crew Dragon spacecraft that allowed the crew to exit the Resilience capsule for the spacewalk.

Polaris Dawn is the second private SpaceX mission funded by Isaacman. The first, Inspiration4, launched in 2021 and was the first private spacewalk with a civilian crew. That mission also flew with Resilience.

Inspiration4 and Polaris Dawn raise money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.

In total, Inspiration4 has raised $250 million in funding. Polaris Dawn is scheduled to return to Earth on Day 6.
