New Way To Search On Google Using Videos, Don’t Be Tech-Ignorant
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Searching via Google is not only using keywords and images. Now you can use videos to search for something.
Google has shown off this capability at I/O 2024. In its demonstration, users can upload videos to Google Lens and searches will be displayed based on their content, quoted from BGR, Tuesday (1/10/2024).
- Open Google Lens
- Click and hold the shutter button to start the video
- Later Google will scan the video and the results will be displayed in Google Search
The Google Search results from the video are the same as other searches. Including a search summary in AI Overviews will also be displayed at the top of the search.
From the report quoted by BGR, search results using videos are not yet completely accurate. Google has not identified the objects in it perfectly.
As shown by a user on social media X, Google identified the smartwatch in the video he uploaded as the OnePlus Watch 2R even though he was using the Watch 2. However, the results will likely be much better in the future.
Android Authority explains that video search in Google Lens is already rolling out to users. Android users will get access first, with iPhone users likely to be able to use it later.
Google is also developing similar capabilities through Google’s Project Astra. This feature was introduced at I/O 2024.
Project Astra is an enhancement to Gemini. So the service can respond in real time to objects captured by the user’s phone camera.
