Online Gamblers Blacklisted by Banks and Fintech, Here are the Impacts

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The room for online gamblers to move continues to be narrowed. In addition to blocking accounts, the Financial Services Authority (OJK) has recently ensured that they cannot access financial services in Indonesia.

Those involved in online gambling will be included in one information system. This will be accessible to all financial services.

We will include the people involved in one information system that we will compile and we will make it so that all financial service actors can access it,” said Deputy Commissioner for Supervision of Financial Services Business Actors’ Behavior and Consumer Protection of OJK Rizal Ramadhani, during the Declaration of Online Gambling Eradication at the Kominfo Office, Wednesday (28/8/2024).

So far, 6,000 accounts related to online gambling have also been closed. In addition to the closure, those who are blacklisted can no longer carry out activities such as opening accounts or borrowing money from banks.

We include those people as people who cannot enjoy financial services, cannot open savings, cannot take credit, it must be like that,” said Rizal.

OJK is known to be a member of the online gambling task force. However, its commitment is not only because it is a member of the task force to eradicate online gambling.

This task is also the obligation of the OJK as the supervisory authority in the financial services sector. OJK also continues to educate and provide literacy to the public about the language of online gambling.

OJK’s anti-money laundering regime is also very active, as previously stated by BI colleagues, know your customer, due diligence, enhanced due diligence, we have done all of that, meaning OJK’s commitment to eradicate online gambling that damages the foundations of our lives, we concretize it in all the authorities of the financial services authority.” he concluded.
