Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia Chip giant Nvidia has beaten Microsoft to become the world’s 2nd most valuable company. Its position is only one rank below Apple.

Over the past month, Nvidia shares have jumped 25% and are predicted to reach a record high in the performance report season in the next few weeks.

This is supported by the popularity of artificial intelligence (AI) technology which is increasingly massive. Several large clients such as Meta, Microsoft, and Alphabet, are preparing to order more of Nvidia’s advanced GPU chips.

Currently, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang’s wealth is recorded at US$ 117.7 billion or equivalent to Rp1,833 trillion and is the 11th richest person in the world, according to the Forbes Real-Time Billionaires list.

Last August, Nvidia reported its second quarter (Q2) fiscal performance which jumped 122% year-on-year (yoy). Its net income more than doubled to US$ 16.6 billion or Rp258.5 trillion.

Nvidia also provided performance guidance that exceeded market expectations in the current quarter. In fact, Huang is optimistic that Blackwell’s latest AI chip can contribute several billion dollars to the company’s revenue.

The high demand from tech giants also makes Nvidia anticipate increased sales for the Hopper chip in the next two quarters. The Hopper chip is currently available on the market and is the predecessor generation of Blackwell.

“We see Nvidia continuing to be a leader in the AI training market and chips for data center applications,” said the Mizuho analyst.

He predicted that Nvidia currently has a 95% share of the AI chip market. The analyst set a target price of US$ 140 for Nvidia. However, there is a potential risk of restrictions from China, amid the heat of global geopolitics.
