Elon Musk is a liar, the latest evidence makes you shake your head

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia Cybersecurity researchers doubt the claim that there was a hacker attack on X that paralyzed the platform earlier this week. According to experts, there is little evidence of the claim by X owner Elon Musk.

Shortly after X was paralyzed, Musk said there was a DDoS attack on his platform. Shortly after, in an interview, he also said the attack involved IP addresses from Ukraine.

Musk never provided evidence of the two claims. The opposite statement was revealed by a Wired report from a security researcher.

The expert said there was little evidence of Ukrainian IP addresses related to the DDoS attack. In fact, the country is not even in the top 20 countries involved.

The same report even said that X did not intentionally make its platform vulnerable to DDos attacks. This statement is different from Musk’s claim that he involved a lot of resources to deal with it, quoted from Engadget, Friday (3/14/2025).

“X’s original server, which responds to web requests, is not completely safe behind the company’s Cloudflare DDoS protection and is very exposed,” the report said.

This is what allows attackers to carry out targeted attacks directly. X is said to have secured the server.

The claim of a cyber attack is not the first time Musk has mentioned it. Last year he blamed a DDoS attack for disrupting a live broadcast with Donald Trump who was campaigning for President of the United States (US).
