Users Immediately Increase Crazy

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia –ChatGPT received a big blessing from the viral Ghibli-like photo edit that appeared on social media recently. In a short time, the number of users of the OpenAI chatbot increased.

In a post on the X account on March 31, 2025, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said 1 million users increased in just 1 hour.

He again touched on the increasing number of users when he appeared at TED 2025 on April 11, 2025. On stage, Altman and TED curator Chris Anderson discussed the number of ChatGPT users which doubled in just a few weeks.

At first, Altman was not very open when Andersson asked about the number of ChatGPT users. But finally said it was close to 800 million.

“About 10% of the world uses our system, that’s a lot,” Altman said on stage, quoted from Forbes, Monday (4/14/2025).

According to him, the platform continues to grow very rapidly over time.

Andersson also asked about compensation for artists with their creations. Altman replied that there will be a time when automatic payments can pay for the work of creators.

He also added that his party has made restrictions to prevent the ChatGPT model from producing something with copyrighted work.

On the other hand, OpenAI also has leniency regarding dangerous speech. That way it can be more responsive to users who want less censorship on the platform.
