Watch Out, You Just Found Out Who Likes on Instagram Reels Are Now Visible

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia –Instagram has made significant changes to the Reels tab. Not only does it present videos according to user preferences, but there will also be Reels that are liked or liked by friends.

In addition to being ‘liked’, videos commented on by friends will also appear in the feed. Instagram boss Adam Mosseri announced the new capability.

“We want Instagram to be not just a place to enjoy entertaining content, but a place to connect with friends through that content,” he explained as quoted by The Verge, Thursday (1/23/2025).

Users will see a Reels video that is liked or has notes from friends on Instagram.

PC Mag reports that there will be a Friends section in the upper right corner of the Reels tab. Click the icon and you can browse Reels that your friends like.

You can also send reactions to them, namely by sending them via direct messages (DM).

This change comes after Instagram removed the Following tab in 2019. The tab will show a display of friends’ activities on Instagram.

The activities in question include who is followed, posts that are liked or liked and comments made.

While Instagram brought back a feed full of users’ friends, X removed the feature in June 2024. The Elon Musk-owned social media platform is discontinuing the feature for users to see content their friends have liked.
