- On-body Detection This feature works to recognize body movements and keep the device unlocked while you are using it. The device will automatically lock when you put it in a stationary place. Trusted Places This feature allows you to set trusted locations, such as your home or office, where the device will remain unlocked without requiring a code or pattern.
- Trusted Devices Allows you to add trusted Bluetooth devices, such as smartwatches or in-car devices, so that the device will remain unlocked when connected to them.
- Trusted Face Uses facial recognition to unlock the device. This feature provides a biometric authentication method that is difficult to replicate, but is only available on some devices.
- Trusted Voice Uses voice recognition to unlock the device. This feature allows you to unlock the device with a voice command such as “Hey Google,” but does not always leave the device fully unlocked. How to use Google Smart Lock on Android:
- Open the Settings menu on your Android phone.
- Select the Security & privacy option from the settings menu.
- In the security menu, look for the “Smart Lock” option. On some devices, this option may be located under Privacy, Lock screen, or Screen lock.
- Tap on the Smart Lock option to enter its settings. You may need to authenticate using your device’s security method (PIN, pattern, password, fingerprint) to access the Smart Lock settings.
- Next, select the available Smart Lock options, such as:
- On-body detection: Enable to keep the device unlocked while you’re using it.
- Trusted places: Add trusted locations, such as your home or office, where the device will stay unlocked.
- Trusted devices: Add trusted Bluetooth devices, such as smartwatches or headphones, to keep the device unlocked when connected.
